Asian Carp
Asian carp currently found in the U.S. were initially imported into the country as "biological cleaners" for use in aquaculture ponds. Today, Asian Carp are found in many waterways including the Mississippi River and pose significant threats to America. Although these fish are seen as threatening species in the US, they are an important part of many cultures around the world, especially those in Asia, such as Chinese culture.
*Asian carp is a collective noun containing four different types of species: Silver Carp, Grass Carp, Bighead Carp, and Black Carp.
